Email infrastructure,
made in Europe
We're building the email API that European companies deserve — fast, reliable, and sovereign.
The problem
European companies rely on US-based email infrastructure for their most critical communications. Every transactional email — password resets, order confirmations, security alerts — routes through servers governed by US law. GDPR compliance becomes a checkbox exercise rather than a technical guarantee. We think that's wrong.
Our approach
Postkit is transactional email infrastructure, built from the ground up in Europe. Not a wrapper around AWS SES. Not a reseller with EU labels. A complete email platform running on European servers, operated by a European company, subject to European law.
Every email you send through Postkit stays within EU borders. Your data is stored in Hetzner data centers in Vienna and Frankfurt. GDPR compliance isn't a feature we added — it's the foundation we built on.
Technical foundation
We chose our stack for reliability and performance:
- Rust for the core services — memory-safe, fast, predictable latency
- Postal as the SMTP engine — battle-tested delivery with DKIM signing and bounce handling
- NATS JetStream for async messaging — no email gets lost between services
- PostgreSQL as the source of truth — with compile-time verified queries
The result is an API that responds in milliseconds and a pipeline that delivers reliably at scale.
Vienna, Austria
Postkit is based in Vienna, Austria. We chose Vienna not just because it's home, but because Austria sits at the heart of the EU's digital infrastructure — excellent connectivity, strong privacy laws, and a thriving engineering community.
Our servers run in Hetzner's Vienna and Frankfurt data centers. No data ever touches US soil. No CLOUD Act exposure. No third-country transfers.
